DBQ Prep

The Document Based Question is the most important of all of the essays on the AP® History exams and a solid essay is key to passing the exam. Tutoring sessions related to the DBQ are focused on developing the skills necessary to earn the essential points and then move a student’s proficiency into the area of earning the more difficult points on the DBQ essay; evidence beyond the documents, complexity, and document analysis. Tutoring can be tailored to a student’s needs, however full preparation requires three one hour sessions and a student to write a practice DBQ at home.

LEQ Prep

The Long Essay Question is often one of the hardest parts of the AP® History exams for students to tackle because the student needs to show mastery of the historical thinking skills of causation, continuity and change over time, comparison, contextualization, and argumentation. Tutoring sessions are focused on developing a student’s mastery of the three overarching historical thinking skills of causation, continuity and change over time, and comparison in their writing and employing the skills of argumentation and contextualization effectively. Tutoring can be tailored to a student’s needs, however full preparation requires two one hour sessions and a student to write an LEQ at home.

SAQ Prep

The Short Answer Questions on the AP® History exams require students to write a short response that quickly gets to the point but also shows mastery of the historical thinking skill that is being tested in the prompt. SAQ prep sessions will cover the keys to success on the SAQ portion of the exam and teach students how to be certain they are correctly engaging in the targeted historical thinking skill. Tutoring can be tailored to a student’s needs, however full preparation requires one to two one hour sessions depending on the students experience.

AP® Exam Prep

AP® Exam Prep sessions are arranged in the six weeks before the exam. A practice exam session will be scheduled and students will take an exam that is very similar in structure to the AP® exam. The exam will be fully scored and students will receive a post exam report to go over strengths and weaknesses and how to prepare in the last weeks before the AP® Exam.
